Cochise defeats Glendale for 8th straight win

Silas and Ngnawo lead Apaches to 8th straight win

GLENDALE, Ariz. --- Cochise Women's Basketball rolled into Glendale on a seven-game winning streak and having won 9 out of their last 10 games dating back to early December. The Apaches have been led by sophomore All-American Fortuna Ngnawo who was awarded with her third ACCAC Conference Player of the Week honors last week. Ngnawo has been supported by fellow sophomores Ali Hardwell, Clara Gonzalez, and Alexis Reese, who have all contributed both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. The winning streak has also been a collective effort from standout freshmen Micayla Silas and Michelle Nkolo who has earned herself a starting role as of late.

On Saturday, the Apaches cruised to their eighth straight victory defeating GCC 86-59 on the road led by Ngnawo and Silas who both scored a team-leading 17 points. Ngnawo was a perfect 7 for 7 from the field and collected six rebounds and two assists, while Silas went 6 for 7 and contributed with three rebounds and one assist. Newcomer sophomore transfer Shaunice Reed who joined Cochise in December, came off of the bench scoring 11 points with three rebounds. As a team, the red-hot Apaches were 9 for 12 from the free-throw line and sunk 10 three-pointers out of 24 attempts.

Cochise Women's Basketball looks to keep their streak intact as they head up north this weekend.
