
Joaquim’s 20/20 performance steers Apaches to 7th straight win
DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- The Cochise Women's Basketball team looked to continue their hot streak on Wednesday evening as they hosted the College of Southern Nevada, who were coming off a strong win.
Cochise jumped out to a three-point lead after the first quarter, with a score of 20-17. They maintained their lead throughout the remainder of the first half, holding a 42-34 advantage at halftime. The Apaches began to separate themselves from Southern Nevada in the third quarter, extending their lead by eight. A strong fourth-quarter finish by Cochise saw their lead increase by ten points en route to an 86-60 win over Southern Nevada.
Sophomore Jessie Joaquim led the way with 23 points and 20 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kaylynn Asberry added another 19 points. Sophomores Micayla Silas and Karolina Padilla led with 9 assists and 5 steals, respectively.
