Amezcua and Giuriatti land conference and region postseason honors

DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- Cochise Women's Soccer standout Freshman Sabrina Amezcua of Mexicali, Mexico, and Sophomore Julia Giuriatti of Chepeco, Brazil were awarded All-Conference and All-Region honors yesterday when names were released by the ACCAC. 

Sabrina Amezcua, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region 1

Amezcua had one of the most successful Freshman seasons at Cochise College in recent history, making a name for herself on the national stage and making an immediate impact on the Apache's offensive side of the ball. The freshman forward finished 4th overall in the country in goals scored with a total of 21, this included three game-winning goals on the season. Amezcua finished the regular season with an exclamation mark scoring four goals against Chandler-Gilbert cementing postseason awards for the conference and region. The historic season included two games with four goals and one game with three goals. Amezcua is poised to return in 2024 along with a strong cast of returning freshmen. 

Julia Giuriatti, Second Team All-Conference, First Team All-Region 1

Giuriatti concluded her final season with Cochise earning conference and region recognition for her defensive efforts for the Apaches. Although defense was Giuriatti's main position, she scored 4 goals off of 12 shots the season, with one assist. Two of the four goals Giuriatti scored this season were game-winning goals. Along with the offensive and defensive stats, Giuriatti also had a strong leadership presence for the Apaches. The outgoing sophomore has yet to commit to a four-year school, but it is expected that she will continue playing at the next level in 2024.
