Cochise defeats Gateway

Cochise Soccer bounces back on the road against Gateway

PHOENIX, Ariz. -- The Cochise Women's Soccer team was looking for a momentum-shifting win Tuesday evening, as they headed to Phoenix to take on Gateway Community College. The Apaches were coming off of a disappointing 5-1 loss to Scottsdale and a 5-2 loss to Pima last week, and were looking for their first win since September 16th. The Geckos were also in search of their first win in weeks, as they had lost three consecutive matches coming into Tuesday's matchup.

Cochise wasted no time scoring in the first three minutes with an unassisted goal from Freshman Abigail Pursley, playing in her second game after spending time on the injured list. Sophomore Paula Gonzalez stretched out the Apache's lead in the first half scoring two more, followed by another from Liliana Chavez to give Cochise a 4-0 lead at halftime.

The second half was the same story as Sophomore Sabrina Ramos-Camatta scored in the 50th minute off an assist by Celeste Medrano. The Apaches put the exclamation mark on Gateway when Daniela Calderon scored on a Sabrina Amezcua assist as they ran away with a 6-0 win.
