Cochise falls to Scottsdale

Fighting Artichokes offense too much for Cochise on the road in Tuesday evening match

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- The Cochise Women's Soccer team looked to bounce back from a disappointing home tie with Yavapai College on Saturday with an evening match on the road with the Fighting Artichokes of Scottsdale Community College. The Apaches took the road for the first time since mid-September on Tuesday trying to find some much-needed momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Tuesday's match remained close heading into halftime, with both SCC and Cochise knotted up 0-0. Cochise goalkeeper Alicia Garwood managed to save four of Scottsdale's shots on goal in the first half. The second half of the match began with a Scottsdale scoring spree when the Artichokes put the ball in the net four times in the first 20 minutes of the half padding a comfortable lead over the Apaches. Freshman Mikayle Rodriguez answered back in the 80th minute scoring the first goal of her Cochise College career. Another Scottsdale goal shortly after gave the Artichokes a 5-1 lead and eventual win over Cochise.
