Cochise 3 Scottsdale 2 Final Score

Cochise Women's Soccer ends Scottsdale's undefeated season in overtime thriller

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- It took overtime for the Lady Apaches (4-3, 1-1) to take down the Scottsdale College Fighting Artichokes (6-1, 1-1) 3-2 in a lengthy Tuesday night match that included a lightning delay during pregame. Cochise jumped out to an early lead when Megan Castricum scored off an assist by Paula Gonzalez in the 6th minute of the match. Gonzalez then put one in on her own giving the Lady Apaches a 2-0 lead. Cochise went into halftime up 2-1. Scottsdale managed to tie it all up in the 2nd half forcing overtime, however, Ivana Siles scored quickly into the extra time off of an assist by Kayla Reynaud allowing the Lady Apaches to end SCC's six-game winning streak to start the season. This win also ends a three-game skid for Cochise Women's Soccer, and gives the Lady Apaches momentum moving towards Saturday's match at South Mountain. Head Coach Ricky Escalera points this "bounce back" win to Monday's practice as the Lady Apaches worked on drills and situations that improved overall grit and aggressiveness during play. He was pleased to see the improvement in his players and how they were able to overcome the mistakes that were made last week.

The Cochise Women's Soccer team now looks towards Phoenix as they head to South Mountain Community College (1-4, 0-2) in another ACCAC matchup on Saturday, September 17th at 3:00pm.
