WBB fell fighting the number one team in the ACCAC

The Cochise College women's basketball team played a hard-fought game versus the newly named number one team in the ACCAC, Arizona Western College. The Matadors took the reins of the conference after defeating Central Arizona Community College.

The match was a nail-biter the entire game, with multiple lead changes and players giving their all the whole night. The Apaches trailed going into halftime by only one point. Western's Ndiba kept the group in the game with 16 points to end the half. Scoring from the Apaches was spread across the efforts of freshman Jessenia Lawson and sophomores Tatjana Tatar and Corina Suarez Tudela.

The size challenged Apaches battled to compete with the Matadors on the boards. This fight was led by sophomore point guard Aja Phoumiphat who ended the game with a team-high nine rebounds. The sophomore has led this group all season with 6.6 rebounds per game.

The contest ended with the Matadors claiming victory with 70 points and the Apaches finishing with 62 points. Sophomore Corina Suarez Tudela scored the Apaches 22 points, her third straight game with at least 20 points. The sophomore shot an impressive 40% from beyond the arc.
