Women's Rodeo team places first in Regional Rodeo at Payson

PAYSON, Ariz. -- The Cochise College Rodeo Team took the road to Payson, Arizona this past Friday and Saturday for the first of two Regional Rodeos. The women's team finished first place overall as a team. In the long round on Friday, March 31st, Molly Rotenberger took first place in the Goat-tying competition with a time of 7.0 seconds. Laynee Gregerson placed 2nd with a 7.1-second run, and Macie Fowlie finished 3rd with a time of 7.2. 

In the long round Barrel Racing competition, Rotenberger clocked an 18.35 to finish 5th overall. 

For the Cochise Men's Rodeo Team, Gavin Hershberger won the Team Roping event with his partner Wade Hatch out of New Mexico State University with a time of 5.8 seconds. 

In the short-round competition, Laynee Gregerson won the Goat-tying competition and the top-average score overall in the Payson rodeo. Hershberger split his short-round competition in the Team Roping event but earned the top average score for the rodeo.

The Cochise Rodeo Team will head to the second regional rodeo on April 21st and 22nd at New Mexico State University.
