Apaches reach NJCAA Region I title game with 75-71 win over Arizona Western College in semifinal

DOUGLAS, Ariz. — The Cochise College Apaches extended their win streak to seven games with a hard fought 75-71 win over rival Arizona Western College in the NJCAA Region I semifinals in the Stronghold gymnasium on the campus of Cochise College

Cochise took a two point lead into halftime and was able to push the lead to as many as 10 points in the second half and held on for a 75-71 win in front of a great Apache fanbase.

Cochise was led by sophomore guards Jordan Hernandez and Riley Parker who each poured in 16 points in the victory. Sophomore post man Tracy Godfrey Jr. chipped-in 12 points, while freshman guard Lewis Woosnam added 10 points off the bench that included 2 3-point field goals late in the second half. 

Cochise moves to 21-10 overall and will play in their 4 consecutive NJCAA Region I championship game.

"We are really proud of our how guys have battled all season long and now we are in the NJCAA Region I championship game for the 4th straight year. It will be a challenge for us to battle a very good Eastern Arizona College team on their home floor, but our guys will not back down to anyone."

Cochise Men's Basketball (21-10,13-6) will travel to Thatcher, AZ to take on ACCAC DI regular season champions(25-6,17-2) Eastern Arizona College for the NJCAA Region I Championship game Monday, March 11th. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
