Cochise defeats Scottsdale

Cochise handles business in 76-65 win over Scottsdale CC Fighting Artichokes

Douglas, Ariz.— After a long ten-day lay-off after beating ACCAC and NJCAA Region I rival Arizona Western College 78-65 on Saturday, February 10th in the Stronghold Gymnasium, the Cochise College Apaches used a strong defensive effort early on to take control of the Scottsdale Community College Artichokes in front of a home crowd that included Mr. Stephen Cluff, father of NJCAA All American Oscar Cluff.

Cochise jumped out to a 44-23 halftime lead that they never surrendered in the second half.  Cochise had four players in double-figure scoring with Sophomore Diego Sharp leading the way with 14 points in the win.

Cochise moves to 16-10 overall and 9-6 in ACCAC play with 4 regular season games remaining.

IN HIS WORDS…

Cochise Head Coach Jerry Carrillo

"Our guys came out and executed our defensive game plan very well in the first half as we held SCC to 23 points and 28.1% from the floor—that is defending. My Assistant Coach Derek Lane did a great job preparing our guys with the defensive scout. Tonight we go and cheer on Oscar Cluff at McKale Center vs. the Arizona Wildcats."
