Cochise drops two to Eastern Arizona at home

DOUGLAS, Ariz. --- Cochise College Men's Basketball hosted Eastern Arizona College on Friday, December 8th and Saturday, December 9th at Stronghold Gymnasium falling twice to the Gila Monsters in close contests.

 Friday, December 8th: Cochise 62, Eastern Arizona 73

Cochise and Eastern Arizona kept things tight on Friday evening, only to see the Gila Monsters pull away late for a 73-62 nail-biter. The Apaches out-rebounded Eastern 30-29 in the close contest, however, EAC was 8 for 20 from beyond the arc and 9 for 12 from the free-throw line. Cochise had two players score in double figures, sophomore Jordan Hernandez scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Sophomore Tracy Godfrey also scored 11 points and collected 3 rebounds with two assists.

 Saturday, December 9th: Cochise 56, Eastern Arizona 71

The Apaches and Gila Monsters faced off late Saturday afternoon for another close ACCAC contest. Both teams were knotted up 27-27 at the halfway mark, but Eastern Arizona pulled away in the second half to defeat Cochise again 71-56. Both Hernandez and Godfrey scored in double figures for Cochise, Hernandez with 10 points and Godfrey scoring 13. Freshman Joshua Whiteside led the Apaches in rebounds collecting 10 on the day, while scoring 8 points in the process.

Cochise Men's Basketball (6-5,0-3) will try and bounce back on the road as they head to Yuma to take on conference foe Arizona Western College (11-3,4-0) on Tuesday, December 13th, and again on Wednesday, December 14th. Both games are scheduled for 7:30 pm.
