Cochise defeats Phoenix

Cochise uses a strong second half offensive performance to outlast the Phoenix College Bears for a 102-90 win on the road

Phoenix, AZ-- Cochise overcame a sluggish start and used a balanced offensive attack to score 59 points in the second half to defeat the home-standing Phoenix College Bears in the Bear's Den on the campus of Phoenix College Saturday afternoon.

Cochise trailed 46-43 at the half, but came out and scored the first 10 points of the second half and never trailed for the rest of the second half. Sophomore, Oscar Cluff had a monster second half, scoring 26 of his game-high 32 points in the second stanza. Cluff, was dominant at times as he also added 11 rebounds.  The Apaches also had 4 others in double-figure scoring for the win. Sophomore, Tyreese Watson had 21 points while Freshman, guard Riley Parker added 18 points while nailing 5 3-point Field Goals in the win.  The Freshmen tandem of Tracy Godfrey Jr. and Jordan Hernandez chipped in 14 and 10 points respectively.

Cochise is now 23-2 overall and 17-0 in ACCAC play. Cochise is currently ranked #13 in the latest NJCAA DI National poll and #9 in the JUCO Advocate National Media poll. The road win now extends the Apache ACCAC road winning streak to 22 games, dating back to January 2021.

"Our guys stepped up in the last 5 or 6 minutes of the first half to cut PC's lead to only 3 points as we had to go to some zone defense due to early foul trouble.  Offensively we really shared the ball nicely as our guards especially Jordan Hernandez handled the Bear's pressure very well."
