Cochise uses balanced scoring attack to rout Yavapai College 84-60 on the road

PRESCOTT, Ariz. — For the first time since December of 2010, the Cochise College Apaches traveled to Prescott, AZ to take on the once mighty Yavapai Roughriders.  Cochise was able to get the regular season sweep of Yavapai with an 84-60 win on the Roughrider's home court.

Cochise led 44-36 at halftime and did a very good job of pushing the lead past 20 points in the second half. .  A monster tip dunk late in the second half by Freshman, MJ Clegg pushed the lead to 30 points.  

Cochise was led in scoring by Sophomore, Tyreese Watson who had 15 points in the win. Four Cochise Freshman also score in double figures. Starters Riley Parker and Jalen Barbee had 15 and 14 points respectively, while Diego Sharp and MJ Clegg came off the bench to chip in 12 points each.

Cochise is now 22-2 overall and 16-0 in ACCAC play.

"Our guys did a great job in the second half of getting defensive stops and limiting Yavapai to only 1 shot, thus we were able to get out and attack in Transition offense. As per usual Coach Hop did a terrific job of making sure we knew Yavapai's offense action, thus limiting them to 60 points on the night. We really got a great boost off the bench from Diego Sharp and MJ Clegg, which will really help us down the stretch."

News and Notes…

With the win, the Apaches now have won 20 straight games dating back to mid-November of   2022. Cochise has also won 21 straight ACCAC conference road games, dating back to Jan. of 2021.

Cochise goes back on the road on Saturday, Feb 11th to take on the Phoenix College Bears for a 2:00 pm tip-off in the Bear's Den on the campus of Phoenix College.
