Cochise needs overtime to defeat Arizona Western College in nationally televised game 76-69

YUMA, Ariz. With a coast-to-coast ESPN Plus audience watching, the Nationally ranked Cochise College Apaches needed overtime to dispose of arch-rival Arizona Western College in the "House" on the campus of Arizona Western College last night. Cochise led 60-58 on the last possession for the Matadors, when the Mats tipped in an errant 3-point attempt with .3 seconds left to force overtime.  Cochise then outscored AWC 16-9 in the overtime period with Sophomore guard Tyreese Watson stepping up and making big plays on both ends of the floor.

Cochise led Watsons 18 points, but the Apaches had five players in double figures. Sophomore, Oscar Cluff had 16 points, while Freshmen, Jordan Hernandez and Tracy Godfrey Jr., chipped in 13 and 12. Freshman guard Riley Parker added 10 points in the win.

Cochise moves to 18-2 overall and 12-0 in ACCAC play.

In His Words…

Cochise Head Coach Jerry Carrillo

"Our guys did a super job of staying together and battling to get that OT win versus a very good opponent on their home floor.  Once again asst. coach Jason Hopkins did a very good job on the scouting report of us defending AWC offensive actions. We had various guys step up and make clutch shots and free throws in pressure situations; it was a good win for us."
