Cochise goes 3-0 and wins Aztec Classic

After a long 14-day winter break, the Cochise College men's basketball team regrouped and won the inaugural Aztec Classic hosted by Pima Community College at the Pima CC West Campus in Tucson, AZ.

On Monday, the Apaches defeated Eastern Wyoming College out of Region 9, 105-73. Tuesday Cochise beat College of Southern Nevada 82-65. The Apaches closed out the Aztec Classic in fine fashion, dismantling a high-powered Dawson CC Buccaneer squad 89-63 to claim the championship of the first-ever Aztec Classic.

Cochise moves to 16-1 overall and 7-0 in ACCAC play. Cochise again sits atop the ACCAC standings.

"It was a great three-game tournament for us as the team stepped up for each other after such a long break," said Head Coach Jerry Carrillo. "The players defended with great effort against a very talented Dawson team. Because of that, we brought the hardware back home."
