Men's basketball defeats Arizona Western College 77-70

The Apaches jumped out to a 41-25 halftime lead and held on to give the Matadors their first ACCAC loss of the season with a hard-fought 77-70 win in "The House" at Arizona Western College.

Cochise was again led by returning ACCAC Player of the Year and All American Stephen "Tank" Byard, who had 24 points and 11 rebounds in garnering another double-double. Guards Tyreese Watson and Jonathan Garcia chipped in 16 and 14 points in the road win. Jalun Trent continued his brilliant floor-play with nine points, nine assists, and nine rebounds.

The Apaches are now 10-1 overall, 4-0 in ACCAC play, and sole possession of the first place in the ACCAC.

"Our guys stepped up last night on the road as we played without Oscar Cluff and Ray Brown," said Cochise Head Coach Jerry Carrillo. "Tank really made some big baskets for us down the stretch, and our guys responded with some different line-ups to secure the win. It is always good to defeat AWC."
