Cochise baseball splits with Pima on the road

An early lead helped the Apaches defeat Pima 6-2 on Tuesday, Feb. 22. The Cochise College baseball team scored on a single by Damian Garcia and a wild pitch during Leo Melendez's at-bat in the second inning.
Treyjen Meza led things off on the hill for the Apaches. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over four innings, striking out two. Cochise pulled away for good with two runs in the second inning.

In the second, Garcia singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Darius Garcia's wild pitch allowed one run to score for the Apaches. Cochise baseball smacked one home run on the day. Eduarny Martinez went deep in the seventh inning. Cochise had nine hits in the game. Garcia, Gerardo Hernandez, and Cameron Crotte managed multiple hits for the Apaches.

Garcia led the Apaches with three hits in three at-bats.

Martin Miranda led things off on the mound for Apaches. The righty lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out one and walking nobody. Cochise jumped out to an early lead scoring four in the first inning. Pima clawed their way back and stayed in the game. Cochise struggled to find the strike zone late, leading to unearned Pima runs. A bases-loaded hit by pitch tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth inning at 7-7. The Apaches collected nine hits in the second game of the day. Desoto and Aaron Marsh had multiple hits for the Apaches. Marsh and Desoto each collected two hits to lead.
