Cochise defeats CSN

Apaches finish home regular season schedule with 7-2 win over CSN

DOUGLAS, Ariz.--- The 20th ranked Cochise Women's Soccer team was looking to finish their home regular season schedule on a good note as they welcomed the conference newcomer College of Southern Nevada Tuesday afternoon. The Apaches were coming off of a 6-0 win on the road at Yavapai last weekend, while the Coyotes of CSN had came into Douglas having lost two matches in a row.

Tuesday afternoon's match began quickly as freshman Michelle Gomez scored in the 3rd minute off of an assist from Abigail Pursley. Sophomore standout Sabrina Amezcua then connected with Angelita Carlos twice to put the Apaches up 3-0 early over the Coyotes. CSN answered scoring a goal of their own, but Amezcua added to the insurance for Cochise finding the back of the net twice before halftime putting the Apaches up 5-1 at the halfway mark.

Darienne Thompson and Daniela Garro each scored a goal in the second half to secure the lopsided 7-2 win over CSN to finish off the home regular season schedule for Cochise. With the win over Southern Nevada, Cochise Women's Soccer anticipates hosting an NJCAA Region 1 Semifinal match slated for Wednesday, October 30th. Kickoff time and opponent are still to be determined.
