Cochise defeats CSN

Two late goals for Cochise seal the win over CSN

LAS VEGAS, Nev. --- The Cochise Women's Soccer team traveled to Las Vegas this Saturday for an afternoon match with new conference member College of Southern Nevada. The Apaches were coming off of a disappointing draw with Yavapai at home the week prior, while the Coyotes were coming off of a three-game losing streak having lost to Yavapai, Eastern Arizona, and Arizona Western College.

Cochise jumped out to an early lead when freshman Jocelyn Navarro scored off of an assist from Darienne Thompson in the 8th minute. CSN responded shortly before the end of the first half knotting the match at one at halftime. Thompson, who was returning from an injury that had her sidelined for the majority of the early portion of the season, gave the Apaches a 2-1 lead, finding the back of the net off of an assist from freshman Michelle Gomez. In the final ticks of the match, sophomore Sabrina Amezcua scored her 16th goal of the season adding insurance as the Apaches ran away with a 3-1 win in Vegas.

Amezcua's goal moved her to 2nd in the country in goals scored.
