
Apaches lose lead late, fall to No. 5 Arizona Western
YUMA, Ariz. --- The #15 ranked Cochise Women's Soccer team traveled to Yuma on Saturday for an evening match with conference foe and #5 ranked Arizona Western College. The Apaches opened up an early lead when sophomore Sabrina Amezcua scored an unassisted goal in the 22nd minute.
Another Amezcua goal at the beginning of the second half gave the Apaches a 2-0 lead over the Matadors. AWC found the back of the net off of a successful penalty kick, cutting the lead in half 2-1 in the 60th minute. Another Matador goal in the 74th minute tied the game at two. A late foul in the box for Cochise allowed AWC to set up another successful penalty kick in the final 13 minutes of the match that gave the Matadors a 3-2 lead as time expired.

Cochise (5-2-1) will aim to bounce back at home on Tuesday, September 24th as they host Yavapai College (4-3-1) at 3:00 pm on the Douglas Campus. There is no admission fee and concessions will be available.
