
Apaches fall short to AWC on the road
YUMA, Ariz. --- The 22nd-ranked Cochise Women's Basketball team visited 12th-ranked Arizona Western College Saturday afternoon in which the Apaches fell short 72-61.
The Matadors maintained the lead the entire game, jumping out to a 17-10 lead after the first quarter. Cochise responded in the second quarter, shortening the deficit 29-35 at halftime. Arizona Western ultimately pulled away with a 72-61 win over Cochise, clinching home court advantage for the NJCAA Region 1 tournament taking place next weekend.
Sophomore Micayla Silas was the leading scorer for Cochise, shooting 7 for 18 with 24 points. Jessie Joaquim and Paule Nkwetchou Njoukwe followed with 9 points.

Cochise Women's Basketball (18-10,10-6) will host Yavapai College on Wednesday, February 26th for a scheduled tip-off of 5:30 pm at the Stronghold Gymnasium.
