Women's Basketball comes up short to EAC in conference matchup
THATCHER, Ariz. --- The 18th-ranked Cochise Women's Basketball team took to the road Saturday afternoon for a critical conference matchup with the 19th-ranked Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters. With a win, the Apaches would have inched closer to clinching a home game for the Region 1 tournament next month. The Apaches came up short to EAC 61-58 in a close contest which went down to the final seconds.
Sophomore Jessie Joaquim led the Apaches earning another double-double on the season, scoring 15 points while collecting 14 rebounds. Earlier in the week, Joaquim was selected ACCAC Player of the Week for the second time, and NJCAA Basketball DI Player of the Week for her historic and record-breaking 27 rebound game against CSN.
Sophomores Kaylynn Asberry and Karolina Padilla followed with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
