Cochise Women's Basketball drops third straight on the road

HOBBS, NM --- The Cochise Women's Basketball team wrapped up a tough December stretch, losing both games in Hobbs, New Mexico hosted by New Mexico Junior College. The Apaches first took on South Plains College from Levelland, Texas in which they fell short 64-74 to the Lady Texans. Despite a slow start against SPC, Cochise caught a hot streak in the second half, led by sophomore Karolina Padilla, who scored 27 points, including 15 for 16 at the free throw line. 

In the second game, the Apaches took on host school New Mexico Junior College and jumped out to an early 18-14 lead after the first quarter. The Thunderbirds came out of halftime regaining the lead and eventually overtaking Cochise 64-57 to hand the Apaches their third straight loss. Padilla led Cochise with 16 points, followed by sophomore Michelle Nkolo who had 14 points with 9 rebounds.

Cochise Women's Basketball (5-6,1-2) will participate in the Pima Holiday Classic in Tucson, AZ from December 28th-30th at the West Campus Gymnasium. The Apaches will take on Pima on December 28th for a scheduled tip-off of 8:00 pm.
