Apaches offense explodes for 104 points in home-opener against CCC

DOUGLAS, Ariz. --- The 23rd-ranked Cochise Women's Basketball team looked to bounce back after suffering two straight close losses on the road. The Apaches were playing at the Stronghold Gymnasium for the first time this season, hosting the Community Christian College Saints from Redlands, CA. The Lady Saints were outmatched before tip-off, only bringing five players to Douglas to take on a Cochise team that can go three or four deep off of the bench.

Cochise jumped out to a 26-3 lead after the first quarter and did not look back, scoring 28 more points in the second quarter to take a 54-7 lead at halftime. The Apaches outscored the Saints 50-13 in the second half to finish with a lopsided 104-20 win.

Sophomores Micayla Silas and Michelle Nkolo earned a double-double, each scoring 16 points to lead Cochise, with Silas tallying 14 assists and Nkolo collecting 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Kaylynn Asberry followed with 15 points.
