Ngnawo and Paxixe sign letter of intent to NCAA Division I universities

DOUGLAS, Ariz. -- Two Cochise Women's Basketball sophomores have signed their national letters of intent to play basketball at the NCAA Division I level in the Fall of 2024. All-American forward/center Fortuna Ngnawo of Bafoussam City, Cameroon, and guard Chana Paxixe of Madeira, Portugal both put the pen on the dotted line to attend Troy University and High Point University respectively. 

Fortuna Ngnawo, Forward/Center, Troy University

Ngnawo is playing in her second and final year at Cochise College, returning as an All-American recipient from her previous season, as well as earning All-Conference and All-Region honors. Ngnawo has signed with Troy University in Troy, Alabama. During her freshman season, Ngnawo played in all 34 games and had a field goal percentage of 47.9. The standout center finished in the top five nationally in offensive rebounds with a total of 165, which also included 168 defensive rebounds and 30 assists. Currently, Ngnawo has started in all four games for the Apaches, averaging 14 points per game with total rebounds and 11 assists. 

Chana Paxixe, Guard, High Point University

Paxixe signed her national letter of intent to High Point University in High Point, North Carolina for the fall of 2024. During her freshman year at Cochise College, Paxixe averaged 9.9 points per game with 179 total rebounds and 65 assists. Defensively, Paxixe collected 72 steals and two blocks. The sophomore guard suffered an unfortunate injury during a preseason game last month which will keep her sidelined for the entire 2023-2024 season. With efficient physical therapy and rehabilitation, Paxixe expects to rebound and begin her basketball career at HPU fully healthy and ready to go next Fall.
