Austin Nelson enters his seventh season as an Assistant Coach with Cochise College. Nelson returned to the Apaches after graduating from the University of Nevada Las Vegas with a degree in Urban Affairs. He played for Coach Inglehart at Cochise College in 2013 and 2014, where he helped lead his team to consecutive NJCAA World Series appearances. In the 2014 season, Nelson was recognized as a Second Team All-Region INF. Nelson graduated from Cochise College with an associate of general studies degree in 2014. In the six years Nelson has been on the coaching staff at Cochise, they have continually remained amongst the top teams in the ACCAC conference and were the conference champions in 2019. Nelson was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he attended Centennial High School.
