
Cochise Baseball hangs on for Game 2 win over Central Arizona; forces decisive Game 3 Saturday

Friday, May 2nd (Game 1, 9 innings): Cochise 12, Central 11
The Apaches came out firing early in this must-win game, putting up five runs in the 1st inning, led by a two-run double from T.J Shaw and a two-run single from Kevin Blanco. Francisco Laya was busy with a solo home run in the 2nd inning, then an RBI single later in the 3rd inning. Central Arizona fought back in the middle innings and evened the score at seven. Alex Dabrowski and Kenneth Rhein responded with RBI base hits each in the 5th inning. Blanco singled in the 6th inning, bringing across two more Apaches runs. Mathis Nayral started for Cochise, only lasting three and one-third innings, allowing three earned runs. Vanegas and Gomez provided length out of the bullpen but allowed a combined seven earned runs. Ramses Guerra closed out the final inning and one-third with no runs allowed.
